Former members of the Research Committee

PhD. Filmmaker, anthropologist-filmmaker and Director of the School of Cinema and Audiovisual Production at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA, University of Balamand).

After studying anthropology, she obtained a doctorate in anthropological and documentary cinema in France in 2010 (thesis title: “L’habitation d’une famille bédouine en Syrie. Une étude d’anthropologie filmique” [The dwelling of a Bedouin family in Syria: a study in film anthropology]).

During her studies she made several anthropological films, some of which were screened at festivals. At the same time, she developed an artistic approach and made short documentary films.

Today, through her films, Danielle explores cinema’s capacity to contain the space from which we look at the world. She is co-directing feature-length documentary projects and film essays, and is a founding member of the Rawiyat-SIF collective.
