PhD. Interior architect and teacher-researcher with a doctorate in art history.

Patricia Cortas is an interior architect and teacher-researcher with a doctorate in art history. Her research focuses on furniture heritage in Lebanon, in particular on the dynamics of hybridisation between local and Western influences from the 19th century to the early 20th century. Through an approach that brings together art history, interior architecture and heritage studies, she is interested in the relationships between objects, spaces, craft know-how and cultural contexts.

She currently teaches at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) and at the Lebanese University, where she supervises projects that combine research, creation and experimentation. She notably led an interdisciplinary workshop-course at ALBA, in collaboration with We Design Beirut, on the dialogue between artisans and designer-artists and on documenting the creative process.

Alongside her academic work, she practises interior architecture and has worked on heritage and rehabilitation projects within the organisation arcenciel. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences and published in scientific journals. Her approach aims to develop interdisciplinary practices linking research, contemporary creation and the promotion of craft know-how.
